The emergency banner is used for critical health, safety, and disaster alerts impacting the university or state. It will also include links to relevant websites and detailed information. The banner can be closed after reading.

Embedding content lets you add dynamic elements from external sources directly into your website. Common examples include:

  • Videos – YouTube, Vimeo
  • Forms – surveys, registrations
  • Maps – Google Maps
  • Calendars – event schedules

Best Practices:

  • Embed content that adds value and enhances the page.
  • Keep items concise and visually balanced.
  • Test embeds on different devices to ensure proper display.
  • Avoid overcrowding a section with multiple large embeds.

Accessibility:

Only embed content from vendors vetted by the Digital Accessibility Team. Involve the web team early when selecting third-party tools so we can provide specifications and guidelines to keep your content accessible to everyone and help keep your project timeline on track.

360° Tours and Virtual Experiences:

Interactive 360° tours and virtual walkthroughs often rely on complex visual interfaces that are not fully accessible to screen readers and may not meet WCAG 2.2 AA requirements. Because of this, 360° content should not be embedded on university websites unless the vendor’s platform has been reviewed and confirmed to meet accessibility standards by the Digital Accessibility Team. If an accessible version is not available, consider providing an alternative experience (such as descriptive text, images, or video) to ensure all users can access the information.
